AIC π-Hub
Overview
Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) inaugurated four Incubation Centres at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Mumbai, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) Kalpakkam, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) Indore, and Institute of Plasma Research (IPR) Gandhi Nagar on 30 October 2020. While in the last one decade, DAE has already transferred the know‐how of several of its ready technologies to more than 300 industries and entrepreneurs for deployment and while the process of transfer has been continuing with ever-increasing interest from industries, it has been realized that translation of the know‐how of the technologies to marketable product or process has not been happening with significant success underlining a need to enhance the effort towards incubation of technologies. This has been the main objective of setting up the Incubation Centres at R&D Centres and Grant‐in‐Aid institutes of DAE.
On 12 January 2023, RRCAT was selected as one of the host institutions for Atal Incubation Centre by Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog. Subsequently, AIC RRCAT PI-HUB FOUNDATION, a Section-8 Company having 100% equity holding by DAE under Company Act 2013, was incorporated on 4 September 2023. AIC RRCAT PI-HUB FOUNDATION is doing business with name “AIC π-Hub” or “AIC pi-Hub”.
