Diamond Profile Aluminium Seal based Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Flanges are used for making helium leak tight all-metal demountable joints in UHV systems with pressure ranging from 1E-8 mbar to 1E-11 mbar working in radiation/ non-radiation environments at room temperature to cryogenic temperature range. Technical Specifications (engineering drawings of the flanges/seals, materials of construction, manufacturing process, chemical cleaning and packaging) will be transferred to potential vendors through technology transfer.

- General Description: Diamond Profile Aluminium Seal based Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Flanges are used for making helium leak tight (helium leak rate <1E-10 mbar.l/s) all-metal demountable joints in UHV systems with pressure ranging from 1E-8 mbar to 1E-11 mbar working in radiation/non-radiation environments at room temperature to cryogenic temperature range. This in-house developed technology is highly matured, time tested (> 25 years) and have been used in large numbers in Indus synchrotrons and linear accelerators, IRFEL and UHV lab systems.
Technical Specifications (engineering drawings of the flanges/seals, material of construction, manufacturing process, chemical cleaning and packaging) will be transferred to potential vendors through technology transfer.
- Typical Applications: This UHV sealing technology has been used in demountable joints of UHV systems of Indus synchrotrons, linear accelerators and IRFEL at RRCAT in large numbers. This technology can be reliably used for helium leak tight (helium leak rate <1E-10 mbar.l/s) UHV compatible joints, for applications in UHV compatible mechanical/electro-mechanical hardware like: vacuum chamber ports, right angled valve, gate valve, Tee, elbow and cross, UHV pumps etc. These products are used in various high end instruments like: surface analytical instruments (SEM, XPS, TEM etc.), cold atom gravimeter, penning/paul ion trap systems etc.

- Manpower Requirement
- Engineer having BE/ BTech/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with experience of at least two years in supervising similar work.
Skilled Turner and fitter with at least two years’ experience.
